26/09/2009
At present the team are training hard for Kilimanjaro with main training days on a saturday morning starting at meelmore lodge and taking the route up and across the four peaks of Slievenaglogh, Slieve Corragh, Slieve Commedagh, and Slieve Donard.
This route was choosen to help the team to acclimitise for the climb up Kilimanjaro at (5,895 meters / 19,341 feet).
In contrast Slieve Donard within the Mournes is the highest mountain we have in Northern Ireland at 848 metres (2,785 Feet) so kilimanjaro is nearly three times the height of Slieve Donard.

The 2009 kilimanjaro team from Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle belfast will be departing for kenya on the 21st October 2009 and are training hard to finish this climb up Mount Kilimanjaro the biggest freestanding mountain in the world.
